PhD position: Remote Sensing in Hydrology Georgia Institute of Technology
Start date: January 2021.
A PhD position is available in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). The position is part of the project "Soil Moisture Dynamics And Water Fluxes In The Amazon Basin During Dry Periods And Droughts-An Application of SMAP Observations" funded by NASA. The successful applicant will join the Prof. Jingfeng Wang research group and will collaborate with project partners at JPL (Andreas Colliander) and the LBNL (Robinson Negron-Juarez).
The main objective of the project is to produce process-based algorithms to improve SMAP soil moisture observations in the Amazon using extensive field data. Experience in field campaigns, excellent communication and writing skills, and programing knowledge (Fortran and python) are needed for this position. Trips to the Amazon rain forest will be part of this position too.
