Atmospheric rivers are relatively long, narrow regions in the atmosphere – like rivers in the sky – that transport most of the water vapor outside of the tropics.
The main area of unsettled weather through the next 24 hours (through early Wednesday, 2/21) remains over California as showers and thunderstorms stream inland associated with a deep upper-trough and atmospheric river.
