Summer Internship at National Institute of Disaster Management.



National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India, has announced Summer Internship for the financial year 2021 to be held during May-June/July, 2021.

Interns shall be assigned tasks/ activities pertaining to the mandate of NIDM. Areas/ Sectors pertaining to the mandate of NIDM are available at the detailed Notification at https://nidm.gov.in/. They will also be provided opportunity to attend workshops,
conferences and seminars, training programmes conducted by NIDM during the period of internship.

Duration of internship will be 8 weeks (2 months) only. Interns will be provided with the necessary logistics support- office space at NIDM Rohini Campus and internet facility. Interns are encouraged to carry their laptops for this purpose. The interns will be required to present an Internship Report to NIDM at the end of the internship. Interns may also be asked to make a presentation about their assigned activity(s) if need be.

Landsat band composition

Short-Wave Infrared (7, 6 4) The short-wave infrared band combination uses SWIR-2 (7), SWIR-1 (6), and red (4). This composite displays vegetation in shades of green. While darker shades of green indicate denser vegetation, sparse vegetation has lighter shades. Urban areas are blue and soils have various shades of brown. Agriculture (6, 5, 2) This band combination uses SWIR-1 (6), near-infrared (5), and blue (2). It's commonly used for crop monitoring because of the use of short-wave and near-infrared. Environmental Geography studies the relationship between humans and nature in a spatial (place-based) way. It combines Physical Geography (natural processes) and Human Geography (human activities).
